The following illustration of typical a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is provided to demonstrate how and where FreshAWL® clean green waste treatment solutions will solve the challenges facing waste management professionals. Challenges such as odor control, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) elimination, mercaptan removal, sludge reduction, vector control, methane production, FOG control, biosolids conversion and struvite removal.

Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Site Challenges FreshAWL® WOW-Air™ for aerobic H2S odor control If odor control fields are used the FreshAWL® WOW-Air™ will enrich the soil nutrients and eliminate the associated odor. FreshAWL® WOW-Air™ can be misted over or injected into oxidation ponds without damaging the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) or Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) balance. WOW-Air™ or WOW-Air B™ can be injected into the Digester for harmful bacteria reduction, sludge reduction (resulting in less biosolids) while assisting in the increased generation of methane gas for power generation. WOW-Air B™ can also be misted over farm paddocks for odor elimination, algae reduction and vector control.

FreshAWL WOW-Air™ for aerobic H2S and mercaptan odor control (>>learn more about mercaptans here) may be injected into the influent waste stream at the bar screen lift station via a peristaltic pump or misted over cascading drop sites.

The addition rate is 1 gallon of WOW-Air™ per 1,000,000 gallons of raw sewage per 1 ppm of H2S. A wastewater treatment plant that receives 10,000,000 gallons (10 mgd) of raw sewage per day having an aqueous measured count of H2S ppm of 3 ppm would require 30 gallons of WOW-Air daily. For long enclosed pipe runs subject to anaerobic bacterial growth conditions, FreshAWL WOW-Air B™ is the appropriate solution.

In addition, FreshAWL Z-FOG™ will significantly reduce Fats, Oils and Grease (FOGs) that accumulate on the bar screens, wet wells, concrete surfaces, grit building plenum, distribution box, primaries (flight and chains), in pipes, etc.

WOW-Air injected into influent stream at bar screen lift station will continue to work as it travels through the system. If odor control fields are used, FreshAWL WOW-Air™ will enrich the soil nutrients and eliminate the associated odor. In fact, WOW-Air™ can replace the need for any alternative odor control processes including odor control fields.

WOW-Air may be misted over or injected into oxidation ponds without damaging the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) or Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) balance. Using WOW-Air B, WOW-Air B28 and WOW-Air S instead of WOW-Air will eliminate odor but also serve to control algae, sludge reduction and vector (mosquito and flies) control agent.

WOW-Air or WOW-Air B can be mixed for misting at a rate of one gallon per 25 gallons of water. One gallon of mixed solution will cover 350-400 square feet of surface area.

WOW-Air S can also be injected into the Digester for the activity inhibition of harmful bacteria (pathenogenic e-coli) activity, sludge reduction (resulting in less biosolids) while assisting useful bacteria's waste processing and increasing production methane gas for power generation.

WOW-Air B28 can be misted over sludge belts/presses and  lagoons for reduction of solids. WOW-Air B28 will eliminate the sludge odor, reduce sludge volume and speeds the heat generation of good bacteria on biosolids for reaching a Class A fertilizer classification for composting material.

Another challenge to consider is Struvite, a crystalline structure comprised of ions of magnesium (Mg+2), ammonium (NH4–N), and phosphate (PO4–P), is commonly encountered in wastewater treatment plants through Struvite encrustation. The gradual accumulation of this crystal in pipes and fittings leads to high costs due to downtime and replacement of parts.

FreshAWL Z-AMP™ is specifically designed to prevent the bonding of Ammonium, Magnesium, and Phosphate (AMP). No more scaling, no more mineral clogs and complete removal of existing Struvite build-up. Z-AMP will deconstruct and prevent the formation of other wastewater particulates including Vivianite and Calcium carbonate.
